How do Railways Recruit in India ?
Railways recruitment are divided into 4 categories named as Groups
Group A (gazette posts): Top job profiles in Railways are recruited via Civil Services UPSC and Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) Exam via UPSC , Engineering Services Examination, Combined Medical Examination
Group B (gazette posts): Group C and D employees are promoted in this category
Group C : 12th Pass and above can apply for Group C , Railways Recruitment Board notify and advertise every years , Railways recruitment Board conducts merit based competitive exam followed by medical test and Interview.
Group D : 10th pass and above and in some cases 8th pass candidate can apply , RRB notify and advertise every year for these positions .

(a) Electrical /Electronics/Information Technology /Communication Engineering
(b) Combination of any sub stream of basic streams of Electrical/Electronics/ Information Technology/ Communication Engineering from a recognized University/Institute
2. Sr. Section Engineer (Signal)
Sr. Section Engineer (Telecommunication)
Sr. Section Engineer (Drawing, Design & Estimation)
Four years Bachelor’s Degree in
(a) Electrical / Electronics /Information Technology/Communication Engineering or M.Sc. Electronics
(b) Combination of any sub stream of basic streams of Electrical/Electronics/ Information Technology/ Communication Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

Qualification: Mechanic Dip in Elect. Engg. (DH/ Elect.)
Qualification: Mechanic Dip in Mech. Engg. (DH/ Mech)
Apprentice Signal Inspector (Gr. I)
Qualification : B.E. (Elect/ Electro/ Telecom)
Apprentice Signal Inspector (Gr. III)

Qualification : Matriculation and ITI Cert.

What is the Railways Exam Pattern and Syllabus?
100 marks optional question with 4 options containing one correct answer, 90 min ( 1hr 30mins) are given , 1 Marks from correct answer .25 negative marking on incorrect answer .The questions are from four section :
1. Arithmetic Ability – 20 questions
2. Reasoning & General Intelligence – 25 questions
3. General Awareness – 30 Questions
4. General Science - 25 questions
Data Interpretation (Bar Graphs, Pie Charts, Line Graphs, tables etc.), Time & Work, Time & Distance (Boats & Streams, Trains etc.), Pipe & Cistern, Profit & Loss, Margins & Discounts, Simplification, Speed Calculation, Averages, Problems on Age, Linear/ Quadratic Equations, Simple/ Compound Interest, Area & Volume.Reasoning & General Intelligence Syllabus:
